This is a great question that I bet a lot of people wonder about and I’m so glad you asked because I have a story for you about a customer of Jackpot Candles that recently found... a ring valued at $2,000 in her candle!! 

Can you imagine the excitement she must have felt when she assessed the value of her ring? This is Jaime’s story. First, a few things about Jaime. She is –  

• obsessed with candles
• burns one every day
• gifts candles to everyone

As soon as Jaime found her ring, she DM’d me, saying “Jade, you’re never going to believe this . . .” and then described her size 10, 14k gold band ring with a morganite stone. And McKenzie, it is STUNNING!! You can see it on this episode of The Tea --> click to watch

Jaime’s ring was handmade by our master jeweler and gemologist, Josh. He does amazing work and we’re so lucky to have him here! Each ring is made a little different so no matter how much they’re worth, they’re all special but at a $2,000 value, I think we can agree that Jaime’s ring is extra special lol.

Any tips for lighting the wood wick candles?

Jade: Hey there Raya,

Have I got tips about wood wick candles? You bet I do! Wooden wick candles are similar to regular cotton wick but require certain steps and care to make sure you get the most out of your candle purchase and a great burn every time. 

Oneof the most important tips when it comes to wooden wick candles is to trim wooden wicks before burning, just like a standard cotton wick. Like I always say, “Trim yo’ wicks!” 

If there's too much wood between the flame and the wax, the candle will not burn properly. If this happens, the candle will extinguish shortly after being lit. If this happens on the first burn, when it’s important to melt the whole top surface of the wax, it can affect how well your candle will burn.

The best tools to trim your wooden wick include scissors or nail clippers which are strong enough to clip the wood. Listed below are some other tips for use of a wood wick candle:

• Before you trim, wipe the wooden wick with a paper towel
• Make sure your wick is trimmed to around 3.5 – 4 mm before you light
• Light the wick across the candle as opposed to at only one end so it burns evenly
• Do not burn candles for longer than 4 hours at a time
• Trim your wick in between burns 

If you make sure to trim yo’ wick before every burn and follow the steps above, you’ll have a great wooden wick candle experience and definitely be back for more! Enjoy your candle, Raya!
