Can I REALLY find a $5,000 ring in my candle? The short answer is: yes! In every Jackpot Candle, you will find a ring about halfway down or so. You could find a ring worth anywhere from $15-$5,000, wrapped up as a little surprise in the wax of your candle! But let’s be real- it’s the $5,000 jackpot rings that give Jackpot Candles its name.
So… A bit about one of our $5,000 jewels - the beautiful London Blue Topaz Ring!
Meet the Maker
Josh (pictured above) is our resident Master Jeweler and Gemologist. Josh’s impressive resume includes:
Being a Master Goldsmith
Studying in several jeweler and stone setting programs
What IS gemology?
Gemology is the process by which professionals learn to identify precious gems and synthetic stones.
Not just by looking at it, of course! There is a whole scientific process behind the examination process.
Most average jewelers look at a stone and can guess the basics, if it looks like a ruby or sapphire, but there are hundreds of stones that look alike. Gemology teaches master jewelers to identify the minute differences between gems and stones, giving a much more accurate profile of the piece of jewelry, the featured pieces, and the overall appraisal value.
With this knowledge, Josh is able to understand the whole process behind a piece of jewelry from start to finish.
The most expensive piece of jewelry Josh has ever made was worth $58,000, featuring a beautiful 5 karat diamond.
What do Gemologists look for?
Materials- what is the gem or stone made of?
Is it 10 karat gold? 14? 18?
Are the gems real?
Are the gems synthetic?
How was the gem cut?
What is the size of the gem?
What tools do Gemologists use?
Microscopes- for tiny details
Loupe- the classic jeweler microscope from movies and cartoons!
Micrometers- for precise measurements
Refractometer- identifying the way light moves through a gem to help identify said gem
Having so many impossibly small details to look out for, the basic beginning steps of making a unique ring from scratch can take an entire day. And that’s before polishing, cleaning, and checking to make sure everything is perfectly aligned.
When making custom rings, master jewelers start out with a wax carving of the ideal ring design, and that carving is made in gold, the stones are set, everything is aligned, leveled, etc. Such a lengthy process makes it that much more rewarding when master jewelers and gemologists get to see the looks of awe on the faces of those purchasing the rings!
The London Blue Topaz Ring
Our gorgeous London Blue Topaz ring is inspired by Queen Elizabeth and British royalty.
This stunning piece of jewelry features:
All natural stones
Cushion cut blue topaz center stone
2mm white diamonds on the band
1.5mm white surrounding diamonds on the halo
14 karat white gold
The Halo (Josh’s favorite ring style) is the featured design of this absolute beauty. The halo of white diamonds surrounding the perfectly cut blue topaz not only makes the design look very clean and professional, but it also helps the royal blue of the topaz pop brilliantly. With the addition of 14 karat white gold to pull everything together, this is a one of a kind ring.
How do I know the value of MY ring?
The first step is finding your ring!
Burn the candle and enjoy your chosen fresh and bold fragrance until the foil wrapped pouch is revealed.
Extinguish your candle with a candle snuffer or by capping it, and allow a short time for cooling.
Carefully and safely remove your mystery, foil wrapped pouch with tweezers.
Unwrap the foil pouch and discover your beautiful, new piece of jewelry.
Once you have successfully removed your ring from your candle, you will find a tag on your ring. On the tag, you will find a label with a number code on it. After locating the code belonging to your unique ring, make your way over to our Appraisal page https://www.jackpotcandles.com/pages/appraisal. You will find a text box where you can enter your ring code and discover how much your beautiful prize is worth!
