Have you heard of this TikTok trend to get your candle wax out?
I finally tried it! I gave the challenge a go! My name is Jade, the self-titled candle Queen and this is my weekly blog called the Tea! Where I talk about everything you need to know when it comes to Jackpot Candles!
This tip is that you put your candle jar with a little bit of wax in it in your freezer and then when you take it out you should be able to just smack it and the wax should come out! Seems too good to be true right? That's what I thought.
Before we get into the results let's talk about why you should leave a half-inch of wax left in your candles. When you light a candle you are having a tiny flame inside of your home and what keeps this flame under control is the wax which also helps to regulate the heat. So when you don't have any wax left in your jar but your candle is still burning you are just burning your glass jar which is definitely unsafe. So once you get down to a half-inch of wax give it one more burn just like I did with my eucalyptus candles for about an hour and I blew them out wait for them to harden and then I recorded my process of getting the wax out.
I wanted to do two different types, one leaving it in my freezer for a longer amount of time and one for a shorter amount of time just to see if it makes any difference. On my first go I left it in overnight and for most of the day but then when I went to get it I could tell that the wax was separated from around the glass but it did take a couple of smacks to actually get it out. I tried just had to hit it with my hand then I tried smacking the glass with a book and then I realized maybe that just dropping the candle on the glass might be the best way to go. And boy was I right after I tried that a couple of times, it came out after two drops. I was absolutely shocked I noticed there was a little bit of wax left over in the bottom of the glass but nothing I couldn't get out with a spoon.
On my second attempt I left it in for about an hour maybe a little bit longer, I did lose track of time, but this one came out so stinking easy it was insane. I dropped it twice and it came right out with no extra wax stuck to the bottom. I really couldn't believe it you can see the look on my face I was pretty surprised. So I guess put in for an hour and it should pop right out! If you are crafty like me I like to reuse my wax pieces for other projects and I love using the jars for cute DIYs around the house or for storage!
Stay tuned to see what I do with my jars next week and what I do with the wax a week after that! And if you want more fun in the meantime make sure to join me every Wednesday night at 6 PM Eastern standard time for some giveaways on Facebook and Instagram!!
