Ever feel stressed out about what to pack for your warm-weather vacation? Let us take some of the guesswork out of it with these fashion-forward packing tips!
DRESSES & ROMPERS
These are #1 on the list for a reason! Dresses & rompers are an instantly adorable look without having to worry about a matching top & bottom. Pack a few classic accessories (see further down the list) to go with these and you're all set! Dresses can be super versatile - grab one that you can dress up or down to do double duty for a casual brunch or a night out. They also take up much less room in the precious little space you have in your suitcase.
BEACHY PANTS & FITTED TOP
Linen pants are synonymous with the beach aesthetic for their light, breathable nature but they're also just enough to keep you covered if it gets a little chilly. Pair these with a fitted tank top or a cute crop top so you're comfy and breezey without being too warm. Bonus: linen pants match everything so you can pair them with literally any top you've stowed away with you.
FLOWY SHIRTS & SHORTS
This one is a given but it's definitely essential for summer weather so we couldn't leave this one out. I love a good pair of distressed denim shorts and my go-to this summer has been the popular high-waisted short. Like the versatile linen pant, these two will more than likely match any top you have in your suitcase. One rule I abide by when packing is keeping bottoms basic/neutral so they can pair easily with any top. Mix & match is the name of the game here!
LOW KEY FOOTWEAR
The smaller the shoe, the more you can pack! This is why I love sandals for summer travel. They take up so much less space than their fall/winter counterparts. I usually grab one pair of basic flip-flops, you know, the kind you don't mind losing if they go MIA at the beach, a pair of casual, strappy sandals, and maybe a sandal with a wedge or a heel for a night out.
It wouldn't be a vacation if you weren't hanging out pool-side so a bathing suit or two is going to be a must. These are a pretty compact clothing item so you probably have room to pack a few of these. I love a good, classic one-piece swimsuit especially for the ocean... those waves can get a little rough and we don't need any wardrobe malfunctions! I also like to bring a few separate tops and bottoms so that I have some options - again with the mixing & matching!
If you're bringing a swimsuit, a comfy coverup is absolutely necessary. If you're keeping your bathing suit combos pretty neutral, it might be fun to pack a patterned coverup for a little tropical punch of color & pattern. Or, if you want to feel glamorous at the resort pool you can sport one of those pretty, flowy kimono style coverups. These are pretty lightweight too so you might be able to get away with packing a couple styles.
HATS & SUNGLASSES
The best way to spice up an outfit is to accessorize and since accessories are small you can cram quite a few into the front pocket of your suitcase. A baseball cap is my go-to for a sunny day, so versatile! You can wear it with a cute dress for that sporty-chic look or you can wear it with a crop top and shorts for a casual look. A wide-brimmed hat is classic beach-wear. It's just so great at keeping you protected from the sun's rays. It also looks très chic with a classy black one-piece and that flowy kimono coverup we just mentioned above.
Sunglasses are another must-have and are pretty simple to add to your bag. One pair of aviators for casual wear and a larger, more glam black or brown pair if you wanna look a little more put together.
Forget purses! Beach bags are where it's at on your sun-filled vacation. Get one that is big enough that you can take larger items down to the pool with you (like your towel and a good book) but not so large that you wouldn't want to take it with you to carry just a few things around (like your sunglasses and wallet.) A medium size bag will carry well on the plane and to all of the fun places you intend to go on your adventure.
